2011

I can honestly say 2011 was a very interesting year.

A year in which I produced and mixed “De Koek” by Eefje de Visser, something I’m really proud of and was actually the first non-hiphop album I had ever done.
I’m also “dancing” in the video of the song “Afdwaalt” together with Eefje. It still makes me laugh when I think about that shoot.

2011 was the year in which I had my whole left arm tattoo’ed by Darko Groenhagen. It’s my first one and probably not the last.

A year in which I produced, together with my man Tienus (together we go by the name of Pelican Productions), Krystl her debut album called “Rolling”.
It was the first album Pelican Productions ever produced and the first pop-album I’ve ever mixed.
No less than 3 songs of this album became major radio hits. Not bad for a first one.

Krystl won several awards; the 3FM “Best Newcomer” award and an Edison award for “Best Newcomer”.
She is also nominated for two 100%NL awards for “Best Newcomer” and “Best Album”. We will know if she’s actually gonna win them in January 2012.

There’s this awesome new band called “Color Ones”. Together with the band and Arno Dreef I produced their first record and once again mixed the whole thing. Besides that I also contributed a verse on a song called “New York”. Epic shit.
We’ve worked on the record for a full year and it’s gonna take over the world. Mark my words.
Their first single “See This World” is out now!

Of course I’ve also worked on my own music. Recorded some songs this year that will definitely find their way into this world in 2012 (about time Skiggy!). Anyway, can’t wait to get this stuff out!

A year in which Pelican Productions started working on Nina June’s new album. The basic tracks are recorded and it will come out in 2012. Like I said; it’s not even near being finished yet, but I already love this record.

Just last week Extince came over to my studio to record a song. When we were busy doing his vocals I suddenly thought about the time when I was 15 years old, playing this Extince tape over and over again. I was a huge fan! And now the man is here, in my studio! Classic.

2011 was also a year in which I’ve travelled a bit. I’ve been playing shows in the Netherlands, Belgium, the US, Russia and Norway. Being on tour is the coolest thing and I’m very curious to what places I’m gonna see in 2012.

This year was a year in which I’ve lost love, found new friendships and met a lot of interesting people all around the world. A year in which my perspective on a lot of things changed, just like last year, the year before that and the year before that.
It’s good to know i’m still growing. As a producer, as an MC, as a mixer and as a human being.

Wazzup 2012!
